Midwest City’s volleyball team sent its seniors off in style last week.
The Lady Bombers swept Del City 3-0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-12) Sept. 26 during the senior night match at JE Sutton Fieldhouse.
Before the match, the team celebrated its three seniors – Hana Elam, Aiyonna Pitts and Cherysh Johnson.
“The girls played an amazing game for our last home game and our senior night,” said coach Matti Dix. “They just played so well together, and the seniors had a great ending to their Midwest City gym experience. The seniors were celebrated, and we made sure that we were so grateful for them these past years playing for the program.”
In the win against the Lady Eagles, Kyah Jackson led the team with nine aces. Trinnati Allen posted a team best eight kills and four blocks, while Elam had seven kills. Laila Stewart led with 15 digs and Tori Sanchez had 10 digs.
On Friday, Midwest City competed in the Big 7 Conference Tournament at Putnam City North. The Lady Bombers went 3-1 and won the silver bracket.
During pool play, Midwest City beat Choctaw 2-1 (18-25, 27-25, 15-11) and Putnam City West 2-0 (25-19, 25-10) but lost to Enid 2-0 (21-25, 20-25).
The Lady Bombers moved onto the silver bracket where they beat Putnam North in three sets (26-24, 19-25, 15-6).
