The last day before winter break came with a holiday present for Mid-Del teachers.

The district announced five finalists for teacher of the year Friday morning. Superintendent Rick Cobb and a team of administrators surprised the finalists with the news.

Teacher of the year finalist includes Kelly Craig (Del City Middle School), Amy Emmons (Cleveland Bailey Elementary), Chris Anna Looney (Epperly Heights Elementary), Tissa McClure King (Schwartz Elementary) and Kim Thompson (Country Estates Elementary School).

Cobb enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate outstanding educators.

“Announcing the five finalists for teacher of the year is always one of my favorite days,” Cobb said. “These dedicated teachers work diligently to ensure our students learn and grow throughout the school year. I appreciate their work above and beyond what is asked of them.”

The district teacher of the year will be announced during a banquet in February. The district will also present awards to the support employee, principal, assistant principal, counselor, and special services employees of the year.

Brian Muller, a teacher at Parkview Elementary School, was the 2022-23 Mid-Del Teacher of the Year.
