A juvenile is accused of fatally shooting his 59-year-old grandfather after a dispute at a home in Midwest City on Thursday.

According to an affidavit, about 11:48 a.m., police responded to a shooting in the 3700 block of Rolling Lane Circle in Midwest City. When police arrived, they found the victim outside with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim was transported to OU Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 12:21 p.m.

The juvenile was taken into custody and transported to the Midwest City Jail on a complaint of first-degree murder.

The roommate told police that the incident happened after the juvenile got upset because it wasn’t time to eat lunch. He said the victim went to the garage to smoke and make a phone call. He later heard gunshots and saw the juvenile standing in the living room holding a gun. The roommate called 911 and went outside where he flagged down an officer, according to the affidavit.

The juvenile told police that when he said it was time to eat lunch, his grandfather slapped him in the face and yelled at him, calling the boy a “fatty,” according to the report. The juvenile accused his grandfather of abusing him, his siblings, and his mother in the past. He decided that he “had enough and the only way to make sure he could not be hurt anymore was to kill” his grandfather, according to the affidavit.

The juvenile said he got a pistol from his grandfather’s bedroom and confronted him in the garage. He said he shot his grandfather in the left shoulder, in the back and a third time as he ran out of the garage, according to the affidavit.

Police said the juvenile told them he had considered killing the victim about six months ago, according to the affidavit.

The suspect and his siblings were home schooled, according to the report.
