The City of Midwest City welcomes residents to attend a community open house meeting to learn about the city’s comprehensive plan project and provide feedback.
The meeting is scheduled from 6:30 – 8 p.m., Jan. 14 at the Nick Harroz Community Center, 200 N. Midwest Blvd.
Midwest City is updating its comprehensive plan which will guide the city’s growth and development for the next 10-20 years, including issues such as land use, mobility, economic development and the overall quality of life for residents.
Public feedback will provide the backbone of the plan, said Matt Summer, Director of Planning and Zoning for Midwest City.
“We use robust public input to get a vision for the future of the community as part of the process, and we then work backwards to establish a roadmap and direction for how we get there,” Summer said.
Midwest City last updated its comprehensive plan in 2008.
“A lot of the projects and changes proposed by that plan have been accomplished,” Summer said. “Additionally, we need to go through the public input process to see if the vision for the future that the community has changed in the last 16 years. This will inform what policy recommendations the updated plan will have.”
The city has contracted with Freese and Nichols as a consultant on the project. The city council approved the contract in August.
The open house will be led by Freese and Nichols, but city staff will also be present.
Residents can also participate in the meeting online by scanning the QR code.
