Carl Albert boys claim pair of runner-up finishes

Carl Albert’s boys golf team finished runner-up at the Southern Oklahoma Invitational last Thursday at Duncan Golf and Tennis Club.

The Titans posted a 36-hole team score of 611. They led after the first round with a 309, but Duncan rallied with a 289 in the second round to claim the title at 604.

Kathan Pierucci placed fifth with a 73-75—148. The junior recovered from a slow start to record four birdies in the opening round and added an eagle on No. 13 in the second round.

Freshman Christopher Crawford finished tied for 10th at 150, carding six birdies on the day. Ty McIlvoy tied for 14th with a 154.

Cruz Freeman tied for 23rd, Blake Stuart shot 161 to finish in the top 25, and Ryder Malaske placed 58th with a 176.

Ada’s Drake Kanuch earned medalist honors with a 2-over-par 144. Bryce Bramlett of Plainview and Ethan Travis of Marlow tied for second at 146.

Carl Albert also placed second at the Lawton MacArthur Highlander Invitational on March 30.

Host Lawton MacArthur won the team title with a 290, followed by the Titans at 299.

Crawford finished third with a 3-under 69. The freshman shot par or better on all but one hole.

Pierucci, Malaske and Stuart tied for seventh at 76. McIlvoy, Adam Head, Freeman and Will Fouquette each finished in the top 20.
