Central Oklahoma Weeklies Seeks Entries for Hometown Heroes Special Section
Central Oklahoma Weeklies is now accepting submissions for its annual Hometown Heroes special section, a community feature dedicated to recognizing the military service and sacrifice of local men and women with ties to the communities our newspapers serve.
The section is designed to honor veterans, active-duty service members, National Guard and Reserve personnel, and young adults beginning their military careers. Through photographs and personal stories, Hometown Heroes aims to highlight the people behind the uniforms and preserve a record of service for families and local communities.
Residents are encouraged to submit entries for themselves, family members, friends, or loved ones with connections to communities covered by Central Oklahoma Weeklies, including Tuttle, Mustang, Minco, Union City, Blanchard, Bridge Creek, Amber, Cogar, Binger, Midwest City, Del City, Choctaw, Nicoma Park, Harrah, Jones and surrounding areas.
There is no required format, and submissions can be as detailed or as simple as families are comfortable providing.
Information that may be included includes military branch, rank, job specialty, deployments, years of service, awards, hometown ties, family information, and reflections on military experience. Recent graduates entering service are also welcome.
Photographs in uniform, family military photos, or service-related images are encouraged when available.
Feel free to e-mail the photos and information to [email protected].
This is one of those community things we want people to feel comfortable participating in, whether they have a lot to share or just a little.
