Another fast food option will be coming to Mustang through the Mustang Marketplace development just east of the Mustang Walmart.
Qdoba, a Mexican fast food restaurant, will be the next in line to open in the newly constructed development after permits were issued for the restaurant. Work has also started on the interior of the space.
Melissa Helsel, the Community Development Director at the City of Mustang, said Qdoba’s application date for the space was May 9. She said Qdoba also didn’t have to do any civil work due to the location being built already.
The location will be 2,176 square feet.
“It’s an empty space right now,” Helsel said. “It’s new construction. So, it’s basically just an empty space that they’re going to go in.”
Even though it is currently empty, that won’t remain the case for long. Helsel indicated Qdoba had plans to open the restaurant at the start of September.
Helsel anticipates the business to be an attractive option for people living out of town when looking for a quick Mexican option. She also reiterated the positive signs it sends the city when a business like Qdoba is interested in retail space in town.
“It’s a good sign for Mustang,” Helsel said. “It shows that we have the population. We have the market. We have the traffic count.”
That traffic count can be accounted for as people come to town from Tuttle, Blanchard and more towns nearby. Once SH-152 roadwork is completed toward Union City, that is also anticipated to bring more traffic from the west.
The restaurant will also have a drive-thru, which Helsel indicated was the reason for Qdoba choosing the particular unit it did in Mustang Marketplace.
The Mustang Marketplace development has also seen Panda Express and Chili’s open in the past few months. The development has been in the works for just over two years.
The Qdoba is expected to be right next to the Chili’s, and two parcels down from the Panda express.

Ms. Helsil has done a great job so far getting us great places in Mustang and that helps Mustang to grow. Qdoba is good, but we already have two other Mexican food places. I would like to suggest we attempt to get a Chick-Fil-La again. I know they had land under contract in 2018 that did not go through. But now we have these new places, new buildings and a lot more people in our area. Maybe we even look for a Panera. Thanks for all the work you do making our community better.
Ms. Helsel and city officials: Mustang is a vibrant and uplifting community; I’m glad that my husband and I chose to retire here after 30 years in Colorado. As a former marketing and citizen engagement director for two Colorado municipalities, I am encouraged to see new restaurants come here and hope that you’ll actively seek out family owned and chain restaurants that offer steak, seafood, ethnic food and salad bars. Thanks for your hard work.
