ODOT outlines proposed SH-37 widening through Tuttle
TUTTLE — Proposed improvements to SH-37/Main Street would widen the roadway from west of North Gregory Road to Fourth Street, add a dedicated center turn lane and bring sidewalks along the project area into compliance with accessibility standards.
Oklahoma Department of Transportation Information Manager Emily Long provided additional details about the project ahead of a public open house scheduled for Thursday, July 16.
The proposed roadway would include two 12-foot driving lanes and a 14-foot center turn lane. Plans also call for resurfacing the roadway, constructing new curb-and-gutter sections, improving drainage and adding or upgrading sidewalks to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
Long said the open house is part of ODOT’s public comment process and will allow residents to meet with the project team, review plans, ask questions and submit feedback.
“This is an opportunity for members of the community to come and meet with the ODOT team about the project,” Long said. “They can get some questions answered, and then if they have any input, they can submit that there as well.”
SH-37 is expected to remain open during construction, although traffic may occasionally be reduced to one direction of travel. Access to Schrock Park would be maintained, and park facilities and activities are not expected to be affected.
The project is intended to improve safety and accommodate current and anticipated traffic volumes along the corridor.
The open house will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 16, in the Council Chambers at Tuttle City Hall, 221 W. Main St.
Comments may be submitted at the meeting or sent to [email protected] or 405-325-3269 through July 30. More information is available at www.odot.org/PublicMeetings.
