Midwest City will not get to honor veterans with a parade this Veterans Day.
But residents and business owners can show their support by decking the city in red, white and blue this week.
The City of Midwest City and the Midwest City Chamber of Commerce encourages residents and businesses to fly the American flag this week to honor veterans.
“Midwest City is a very patriotic community that supports our military and honors our Veterans,” said Mayor Matt Dukes in a press release. “This is one way for us to show our respect and support.”
Bonnie Cheatwood, Executive Director of the Midwest City Chamber of Commerce urged businesses to participate as well.
“We would love to see every business in our city flying our flag during the week of Veterans Day,” Cheatwood said.
The Chamber is providing free flags to any business wishing to show their support. Flags can be picked up at the Chamber office, 5905 Prosper Blvd., Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Residents and businesses are encouraged to post a photo on social media with the hashtag #FlyOurFlagMWC.
Midwest City officials postponed the annual Veterans Day Parade due to COVID-19 concerns. The theme for this year’s event was “Welcome Home Vietnam Vets.” Dukes said they plan to reschedule the parade for a future date.
