Billy Sims BBQ is hosting the event Sunday in honor of their 12-year anniversary in Midwest City.
Trent Crow opened Billy Sims BBQ in Midwest City in August of 2010. He had recently retired after 28 years with Walmart where he served as a market manager and oversaw thousands of employees at several stores. While working at Walmart, Crow got to know Sims and Jeff Jackson, CEO, and co-founder of Billy Sims BBQ. He worked with them on selling the company’s BBQ sauce in stores.
“I told them that I was retiring and that was when they started franchising Billy Sims BBQ,” Crow said. “They were looking for someone with business experience to kick off the stores. I took a few months off and said let’s try one. And here we are 12 years later.”
Crow and his wife went through a two-month training program where they gained hands on experience in the restaurant. The new venture in Midwest City was a big hit and continues to be one of the company’s highest performing locations.
“Midwest City is one of our top locations,” Crow said. “The Mid-Del and Choctaw areas have really supported us.”
Crow now owns three locations in Midwest City, Owasso and in northwest Oklahoma City. His wife handles the administrative side of the business, and he manages operations.
Billy Sims BBQ is located at 1701 S. Air Depot Blvd., Midwest City.
