Canup steps up as chairman of the board

Theresa Canup

Theresa Canup has taken the helm of the Choctaw Area Chamber of Commerce for 2023.

The local real estate agent is excited for a year serving as chair of the board of directors for the Choctaw Area Chamber of Commerce.

“As a real estate agent living in Choctaw, it is an honor to serve as Chairman of the Board for 2023. I was born and raised in a large family. I was number 11 of 17 children. My parents instilled hard work and giving back to the community as a requirement in life, not an option. I am excited to accept this position and to give back to the community in which I live and work,” said Canup.

“As a member for the past four years, I had the opportunity to meet many business owners, managers, and employees of companies who I would have never met otherwise. I have been involved in the annual auction for the Chamber since 2019 and enjoy working with such amazing business owners. In 2023, I hope to have the opportunity to meet many more businesses as you join our events and socials. I am here for you, however you might need the help.”

Day-to-day operations at the chamber office are still being overseen by Kaleb Combs.

Kaleb Combs

Combs was hired as President/CEO in 2022, and is excited to continue into the new year with the Choctaw Area Chamber of Commerce.

“It is an honor to serve as the new President/CEO of the Choctaw Area Chamber of Commerce. I grew up in Jones, and graduated from Jones High School in 2013. I then studied at the University of Central Oklahoma. Towards the end of my time at UCO, I moved to Stillwater and began working for the Ponca City Chamber of Commerce. While in Ponca City, I learned that I quite enjoyed Chamber work,” said Combs.

“I decided to return home, and I was blessed to find that the Choctaw Chamber was looking for someone to take the helm. I am super excited to work in my home area, doing what I love to do. If I have not had the pleasure of meeting with you, I hope to connect very soon. Thank you all, for all that you do to make EOC such a great place to live.”

The Choctaw Area Chamber of Commerce works to promote existing business members and bring new businesses to the Choctaw, Nicoma Park and Jones area.
