Rose State host Celebration of Cultures

Rose State College held the 2023 Celebration of Cultures Saturday at the Jeanie Webb Student Union.

The performances inside the Student Union were hosted by comedian Mabel Lean. Performers included Ijahi Jackson from the Rose State College Choir, Del City High School cheerleaders, and the Dynasti Show Stoppers, who performed a dance routine which was a blend of majorette and hip hop. Dynasti Show Stoppers perform in competitions and for fundraisers and is open to male and female dancers between the ages of five and 18.

Jason ‘Beard Gang’ Greaves was the DJ who likes to “keep the good vibes goin’.” He has 15 years of experience with sound systems for churches and concerts.

Children’s activities were provided by Joetta Gotliff, head of Family Services and Child Development at the college, and her students. One activity included making the Dr. Seuss book, One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish “come alive”, with the children using paper fish or Goldfish crackers.

While live performances were happening inside the student union, a college fair took place outside along the campus mall. There were about 40 colleges represented, including schools from Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas and Utah.
