Carl Albert’s tennis teams shined at the Guthrie Bluejay Tournament last week at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center.

The girls team finished runner-up on April 11 and the boys tied for first on April 13.

Keegan McLaughlin led the way for the boys team with a first place finish at No. 1 singles. The senior took down Crossings Christian’s Ben Van Landingham in three-set semifinal (3-6, 6-4, 7-6) and beat Luke Thomas, of Christian Heritage Academy, in the finals, 6-3, 7-6.

Tyler Shaw earned a silver medal at No. 2 singles. He breezed by his first three opponents before running into Crossings Christian’s J.P. Dillon in the finals. Dillon took the title with a 6-1, 6-3 victory.

Luke Fouquette and Ben Sutterfield were third at No. 1 doubles and T.J. Niles and Carter Reese placed fourth at No. 2 doubles. Fouquette and Sutterfield bounced back from a semifinal loss to Crossings Christian to beat Tulsa Edison in the third-place match, 6-0, 6-3. Niles and Reese went 2-2 with wins over OBA and Crossings Christian.

For the girls, Emily Boyer and Rylee Reese were the champions at No. 1 doubles. They beat Duncan in the finals, 6-2, 6-2.

Lily Bryant and Brylee Toney were playing for first at No. 2 doubles but did not finish due to the rain. The pair beat OCS, Duran and Byng. They were facing Duncan in the finals.

Georgia Mosher finished eighth at No. 2 singles and Zoey Shaw was ninth at No. 1 singles.

Carl Albert’s boys and girls teams were scheduled to play in the Durant Tournament on Tuesday (after press time). They also have a dual against Claremore set for Thursday.
