Mid-Del Schools will have a little more flexibility when it comes to scheduling athletics.
The school board last week approved changes to a policy that will allow schools to play OSSAA scheduled activities or make up games any day of the week.
The district previously prohibited school sponsored practices or activities after 5 p.m. on Wednesdays and on Sundays.
Andy Collier, Mid-Del athletic director, asked the board to consider the change that would make it easier for schools to schedule and makeup games, especially late in the season.
“The last few years, Oklahoma weather has not been consistent especially during softball and baseball and it’s forced us to make up games and even postseason tournaments on Wednesdays,” he said. “And baseball had to play on Sunday afternoon to get to the state tournament.”
The board unanimously approved the policy change by a 5-0 vote at the June 28 meeting.
