Midwest City High School has a new volleyball coach this season.

Mattison Dix, an Amarillo, Texas native, has taught volleyball for the past four years and brings her experience to Midwest City.

“I chose Midwest City High School because I felt like it was a perfect fit for me to begin my high school coaching career. I believe my experience playing and coaching will be a great asset to create a successful program,” said Dix.

Dix has played volleyball since she was five years old. She continued playing in college at Midwestern State and Arkansas Tech University.

“I enjoy volleyball because it creates a safe space for young ladies to come and thoroughly enjoy themselves while learning specific techniques and learning how to work together as a team instead of just individually,” said Dix. “Teaching young ladies and showing them what they are capable of not only physically, but mentally as well and building those lifelong relationships is why I coach.”

Dix began training the Lady Bombers for the upcoming season the first week of June.

“After the first month of summer training and how hard the girls have been working on and off the court, I knew I made the right choice,” said Dix. “The bonds we have built together as a team in such a short amount of time just shows how the right coach can make a huge difference.”
