Tuttle’s Tigers and Lady Tigers will start their basketball seasons in Tecumseh when the Lady Tigers tip off the action at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 28.
The home opener for Tuttle will be Friday, December 1 hosting Plainview, and the Tigers will host again Tuesday, December 5. Both games will start with the Lady Tigers at 6:30 p.m., with the Tigers playing afterwards.
The Tigers will have eight seniors this year, including Chad Everett, Jake Pearce, Noah Clark, Richie Overcash, Gabe Avelar, Beck Vargus, Brody Bliss, and Major Sharp.
The Tigers will have three returning starters: Overcash, Clark, and Avelar, all seniors.
Everett and Pearce were also heavy contributors coming off the bench last season.
The Tigers will be led by new head coach Jett Jobe who, as a senior in 2015, helped the Tigers make their first state tournament.
Jobe said the offseason has been a growth period for the Tigers.
“We have hit the weight room and gained strength and have just learned,” Jobe said. “Everything is new to the guys and they have picked up what we are teaching very quickly. They come in and just work everyday to get better. Our early-season goals are to get off to a good start. With everything we do, we just have to win our victories, and we believe they will help with the outcome of the game. Long term goals, as soon as I got here, our guys have said to make it to the state tournament, so that is our goal this year. If we can stay focused on what we measure, then I believe our end goal can be accomplished.
“It is a privilege to get to work where I graduated and to see the growth of the town has been awesome. We have a great group of guys who work hard and have great relationships with each other. Everyday has been a joy to come to practice and to get better. Go Tigers!”
