The Del City girls’ first two games of regionals were a little too close for comfort.
The Lady Eagles beat Guthrie 61-57 in triple overtime in the first round and fell to Carl Albert on a last second shot.
On Saturday, they left nothing to chance.
Sophomore Sacha Hunt scored 25 points including five 3-pointers to lead the Lady Eagles to a 60-42 win over Elgin in the regional consolation finals. Courtnie McCarroll finished with 14 points in the win.
Del City trailed by a point in the first quarter and took a 32-27 lead at halftime with help from Hunt’s scoring burst.
The Lady Eagles held Elgin to single digits in the second half.
Del City will have a rematch with Guthrie on Thursday in the Area consolation semifinals. The game is set for 7:30 p.m. at Edmond North. The winner advances to the finals at 2 p.m. Saturday at Piedmont High School.
