Tuttle man sentenced to 15 years in prison for sending sexually explicit messages to minor

By Jayson Knight

Jared Allen Titler, of Tuttle, was arrested on a warrant out of Okaloosa County in Florida back in June 2023 on one charge of Unlawful Use of Two-Way Communications Device to Facilitate the Commission of a Felony, and 34 charges of Transmission of Harmful Materials to a Minor.
The charges stemmed from allegations that Titler sent sexually explicit messages to a 14-year-old girl in Florida between April 9 and May 6 of 2023.
Crestview Police Department Officer Christopher Lewis, according to his warrant affidavit, began investigating the case on May 12, 2023 when he was provided with the minor’s cell phone. Officer Lewis discovered 34 communications in the victim’s Discord messages that the officer felt warranted a charge.
Titler began communicating with the minor on April 5, 2023, telling the underage girl that he is 22, and asking if she’s comfortable with his age.
Officer Lewis said in his report, “Within the first few messages, the defendant makes a reference that the victim is ‘very mature for her age.’ It should be noted there were over 4,000 messages exchanged between the victim and the defendant ranging from April 5 to May 11, 2023. In the course of the messages, the victim and the defendant engaged in the exchange of sexually explicit images.”
There were also videos and text messages of a graphic sexual nature.
Following his arrest, Titler was then transported to Okaloosa County Jail in June 2023. Titler was given a $20,000 bond and bonded out shortly after, wearing a GPS ankle monitor until he was called back to court.
Titler originally plead not guilty at his court date in August 2023, but accepted a plea deal with the State of Florida on Thursday, February 29. Titler was then taken into custody by the FloridaDepartment of Corrections.
One of the stipulations of the plea deal is that Titler will be designated a sex offender for life. He will also serve 15 years in Florida prison, after which he will be under probation for 15 more.
While under probation, after his release, Titler will have to wear a GPS ankle monitor, have no contact with the victim or the victim’s family, no contact with minors, and no internet access.
At Titler’s court date, impact statements were read aloud by the victim and the victim’s mother.
The victim’s mother said in an email after the adjudication, “The case was covered by Assistant State Attorney Christine Bosau, who was amazing in her pursuit of justice against this man who severely manipulated and groomed my 14-year-old child. I would like everyone in your area to know, especially the other victims that came forward in the comments of the

article, that justice was served and that he will not bring further harm to any more young girls.”
