Carl Albert’s soccer teams earned a split in their first district matches of the season.

The girls beat Guymon 2-0 while the boys team lost in penalty kicks.

Kyndale Sinor scored both goals for the Lady Titans. Ashlee Davison and Hadley Steele had the assists.

The girls also beat Capitol Hill 3-1 on March 12.

Sinor scored two goals and Mia Decicco scored the other.

The Lady Titans went 3-0 in the Muskogee Tournament, with wins over Claremore, Grove and Bixby.

Coach Quan Tran has high hopes for the team despite some early season injuries. The team is led by seniors Davison, Decicco, Georgia Baker and Lily Ross along with a strong group of freshmen.

“I feel like we’ll go to state and go all the way,” said Tran.

Holland Hall will be one of the biggest challengers in the 5A this year. They won the 4A state title the past three years before being moved up this year.

Carl Albert’s boys tied Guymon in regulation 1-1 but lost in the penalty kicks. Jawan Smith had the team’s lone goal in the game.

It was the Titans’ third straight loss in penalty kicks. They lost to Choctaw on March 5 and Capitol Hill on March 12.

Carl Albert is off for spring break. They will travel to Guthrie on March 28.
