One of Mustang’s most popular local businesses is changing locations within city limits.
Wild Hero Coffee Company will be moving into the old Yucantan tanning salon a mere six doors
to the north. The tanning salon location has been vacant for quite some time, but will serve
Wild Hero Coffee Company with an anticipated start in early May.
Sheila Cook, the owner of Wild Hero Coffee Company, announced the decision on social media
with a post in the past few weeks.
“As I stated in my post, we’re kind of in the position where the building that we’re currently in
was going to need a lot of updating,” Cook said. “It’s obviously been here for a very long time,
and we’ve been here almost 11 years. And so, even before then, it was operating as a different
kind of business. So, just a lot of large updates were going to need to be made. And so, as we
were kind of considering what we wanted to do, we just got an offer for this location that kind
of gave me the ability to buy out my parents and then for them to kind of make what they
wanted to make (from the deal) as well.”
Cook said she will be using the same gameplan in the new location that she had been where
Wild Hero Coffee Company currently is located. As far as a setup goes, there will still be a drive-
thru and a mobile app and seating in the Café.
She also said the plan is for there to continue to be a nice “homey” atmosphere in the business.
“It really won’t be a lot of change as far as how we operate because it works really well for us,”
Cook said. “As far as square footage, it’s really comparable. There’s maybe a few less feet, but
that really has only effected the back room of what I have over there. The Café will be about
the same.”
Cook plans to introduce new menu items, including acai bowls, a potential waffle bar and a few
salads.
So, what does Cook like about Mustang to keep the business in town?
“Mustang has been a really welcoming community,” Cook said. “It’s not necessarily somewhere
that I grew up, and so I wasn’t sure about how it was going to be when I first came on five years
ago, but they’ve been really welcoming. It’s really got kind of a very small town feel to it, but
big enough that a business can flourish. That’s really the best of both worlds. So, we’ve really
enjoyed working in the community. This city has always been really good to us.”
Cook plans for the Wild Hero Coffee Company to be operational in the new space in May, and
said she will provide updates on social media with more precise information when it becomes
available.
