Carl Albert cheerleaders earn all-American honors

Carl Albert High School cheerleaders earned high marks at the Jeff and Craig Cheer Camp last month in Norman.

Six girls – Addie Gentry, Taylor Swearingen, Skylar Ashley, Kallista Combs, Adley Novotny and Prestyn Yi earned All-American honors based on tumbling, jumps and dance. They were also invited to cheer/dance at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Swearingen, Gentry, Azzy King and Novotny won Top Gun Stunt. Ashley and Novotny were finalists for top tumbling, and Kayla Clay was a finalist for top jumps. King was also finalist for top jumps and invited to the All-American Army Bowl.

Gentry also received an invitation to apply for cheer camp staff next year.

The Carl Albert cheer team has a new head coach in Laramie Sasser, while Kathy Gentry will be an assistant this season.

J&C Camps are designed to help junior high and high school teams across the state. Camps are held at the NCED Conference Center in Norman. Teams work with an instructor to develop and improve their routine. Campers can also compete in individual competitions throughout the camp.
