Del City stayed atop of the district standings with a 56-0 win over Tulsa Will Rogers Friday night on the road.
The Eagles improved to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in District 5A-4. They’re the only undefeated team in district play.
Kaleb Blackwolf ran for three touchdowns and scored on an interception return in the win.
Freshman Sincere Overton started at quarterback and was 5 of 8 passing for 80 yards and ran for one score. Ricklan Holmes also had a rushing touchdown.
Del City’s defense had three scores against the Ropers. Blackwolf and D’Marion Turner scored on interception returns, and Cam Freeman had a fumble return touchdown.
The Eagles raced to a double-digit lead in the first quarter. Blackwolf scored on runs of 31 and 3 yards. Holmes found the end zone on a 44-yard run up the middle.
Blackwolf continued to shine in the second quarter with a 71-yard interception return and a six-yard TD run.
Will Rogers moved the ball deep inside Eagle territory late in the second quarter. Turner made sure they stayed out of the end zone as he made a leaping one-handed interception on the Eagle two-yard line. The senior then returned it 98 yards for the score and a 49-0 halftime lead.
Del City rounded out the scoring with another defensive touchdown in the third. The Ropers fumbled a snap on their own 15 and Cam Freeman scooped it up and raced to the end zone. That made it a 55-0 score.
The Eagles return to Robert Kalsu Stadium Friday night to take on Tahlequah (4-3, 2-2). The Tigers are trying to stay in the playoff hunt after a 56-6 win against Tulsa Memorial last week.
