Coach Jay Price is used to not having his full roster at the start of the season.
A few of his boys basketball players are also on the football team, which plays in the state championship on Saturday against Guthrie.
“We had four or five that played with us in the summer and they’re all in football still, so that’s about half of our top 10,” Price said. “It’s going to be good when we get them all working with our current group. These guys worked hard in the preseason and bought into the things we’re doing and played well in a season opener.”
But that doesn’t stop the Titans from getting after it on the hardwood. They picked up two wins last week as they beat Southeast and Santa Fe South at home.
Carl Albert opened the season Dec. 3 with a 74-42 win over Southeast. Brandon Rogers scored 16 points and Xavier Garcia and Adrian Randle added 12 apiece.
It was a similar story last Thursday as they won 78-43 against Santa Fe South.
Garcia was the leading scorer with 21 points and Jordan Hawkins scored 19 points in the win.
The Titans are off this week but have a pair of road games next week before the Christmas break. They travel to Noble on Dec. 17 and Guymon Dec. 20.
