Midwest City tops Putnam City after loss in tourney finals

The Midwest City wrestlers got revenge against Putnam City last week.

The Bombers topped the Pirates 47-36 during a dual Jan. 7 at JE Sutton Fieldhouse.

Putnam City beat Midwest City just three days earlier in the finals of the Glenpool Warrior Tournament.

Midwest City won the final three matches to overcome a double-digit deficit and pull out the win. Aidan Brown drew a forfeit at 190 pounds. Aiden Tollison (215) and Junior Ambrosio (Heavyweight) earned back-to-back falls for the 47-36 victory.

The Bombers won six contested matches, earning bonus points each time. Gavin Harkrider (120), Uriah Nail (138),

Gabe Young (157), Tollison (215) and Ambrosio (Hwt.) each won by fall, and 106-pounder JJ Reeves earned a major decision.

Zach Miller (113) and Brown both drew forfeits.
