Mustang may soon be the home to another major restaurant chain offering a high level
gameday experience.
Buffalo Wild Wings recently submitted plans to the City of Mustang for a new location inside
city limits at 921 E. Thunderbird Lane. That places the location South of the Lowe’s and North of
the Atwoods.
Melissa Helsel, the City of Mustang’s Community Development Director, confirmed that the
restaurant will be its own independent building, and will be listed as 9,009 square-feet.
Helsel said the lot size is 104,655 square-feet, which is about 2.4 acres, and will serve as the
frontage property on Sara Road as well.
“It’s definitely valuable (to the city), and it kind of provides a fun sports venue for people in
Mustang to go to,” Helsel said.
Different developments come at different speeds, and the Buffalo Wild Wings is no exception.
Helsel said the permits are ready currently, and she said breaking ground on the location should
be anticipated soon.
“This is one that’s come up really quickly,” Helsel said. “Most projects take a pretty long time
from conception to actual breaking ground. This one has been very fast. They contacted us and
we gave them the information about what we needed for the submittal and permit review and
they had it to us really quickly. And so, the review process has gone fast on this one.”
The location is estimated to be completed in the Fall of this year.
The restaurant could attract people from the entire Mustang School District and others to the
south. Helsel said she thought the restaurant coming is indicative on the population growth,
along with the increased foot traffic and niche for that type of restaurant being a need.
“It’s exciting that national companies are seeing Mustang as a profitable location,” Helsel said.
“I think sometimes companies like this have often stuck close to areas that were right off the
highway. And so, we’re becoming as attractive to those businesses as areas that are right off
the highway.”
