The Midwest City boys basketball team showed some love to the 3-point arc on Friday night.
The Bombers hit 11 treys in a 64-53 win over Classen SAS on senior night.
“We’re very capable of making a lot of threes in games, but it just comes down to focus,” said coach Torey Noel. “Once they feel they can trust it that’s how our games can look.”
Chance “Bubba” Davis and Mason McKenzie each hit three 3-pointers. Deshawn Denson led the team with 17 points. McKenzie finished with 16 and Davis had 9 points, all coming in the first quarter.
Midwest City led by double digits on several occasions, but the Comets were kept nipping at their heels.
The Bombers led 37-27 at halftime and stretched the margin to 53-38 at the end of the third. Classen SAS pulled within single digits on a 3-pointer from Wallace with 3:20 left in the game.
Denson tallied six points and Aeden Sutton added a basket late for the 64-53 victory.
Before the game, the team recognized its seniors Jarvis Nash Jr., Mason McKenzie, Brandon Dixon Jr., Edward Nevins Jr., DeMareo Jones, and Chance “Bubba” Davis.
The Bombers also picked up a win at Altus 61-48 last week.
Midwest City finished regular season 17-7 overall and 10-4 in District 5A-2. They were third in the district and will be on the road for regionals beginning Feb. 27.
