Titans top Tulsa Union at BA/Jenks Festival

Carl Albert’s baseball team took on some of the top Class 6A East schools last week at the Broken Arrow/Jenks Festival.
The Titans went 1-2 in the festival, with a win over Tulsa Union and losses to Owasso and Jenks.
On Friday, Jones hit a walk-off single to lift the Titans to a 4-3 win over Union.
In the bottom of the seventh, Jordan Hawkins singled, and Declan Murphy doubled. The next batter, Nate Deleplank was intentionally walked to load the bases. Davonte Jones then ended it with a line drive to left, scoring Hawkins for the winning run.
Carl Albert led 2-0 early in the game, but the Redhawks clawed back with help of an error in the top of the third. The Titans got a run back in the bottom of the inning when Jones reached on an error and drove in the tying run at 3-3.
Hawkins went 3 for 4 with a double and two runs scored. Murphy also had two hits including a double.
Mason Avery was the winning pitcher. He allowed one earned run on five hits and four walks along with two strikeouts. Eli Esparza pitched two innings of relief.
On Saturday, the Titans fell to Owasso 8-0.
Hawkins had two hits in the game, while B Holland and Jones each had one.
Beau Davis took the loss after allowing four earned runs on five hits and five walks. He struck out four. Andrew Campbell and Adam Head pitched in relief.
Later that day, the Titans found themselves in another close game. But this time, Jenks finished on top with a walkoff single in a 2-1 win.
The Trojans led off the bottom of the seventh with back-to-back walks. The next batter struck out, but the final batter hit a line drive to left, scoring the winning run.
Deleplank drove in the Titans’ only run of the game.
Murphy took the loss after allowing two earned runs on five hits and four walks with six strikeouts.
Carl Albert also picked up two district wins against Guymon on March 25.
