A man was arrested last week after police recovered a stolen gun during a search connected to an ongoing homicide investigation.

On June 19, Midwest City police and investigators executed a search warrant at a home in the 1700 block of E. Madison in Oklahoma City. The warrant was related to a homicide that occurred during a graduation party on May 23 in Midwest City.

During the search, officers found a stolen Glock 43X pistol concealed in a void space atop an approximately eight-foot-tall pillar in the living room. The pistol had been reported stolen by the Norman Police Department.

At the time of the search, three adult males and one juvenile—identified as brothers—were inside the residence and were detained. Their mother later arrived at the scene and identified herself as a resident, according to the police report.

None of the four males claimed knowledge of the firearm. One of them, 23-year-old Christopher Lloyed Martin, told officers he is a convicted felon and is aware that he is not allowed to be around firearms.

Martin was arrested on complaints of possession of a firearm after a former conviction of a felony and possession of stolen property.

He was not arrested in connection with the homicide.

While being booked into the Midwest City jail, Martin again denied knowledge of the firearm. He allegedly told investigators he had never seen anyone with a gun in the house and that the pistol did not belong to him or his brothers. When asked if his fingerprints or DNA might be on the weapon, Martin said no. He also refused to provide a DNA sample, according to the report.

The investigation into the May 23 homicide remains ongoing.
