Bombers, Eagles kick off season at Midwest City Invitational

Midwest City and Del City high schools opened the outdoor track and field season March 7 at the Midwest City High School Invitational at Rose Field.
Tavion McGuire-Theus led Midwest City with runner-up finishes in the 100 meters (11.38 seconds) and 110 hurdles (14.62).
The Bombers placed sixth in the 800 relay (1:35.24), while Christopher Crawford (200) and Braydon Dodoo (400) added individual top-10 finishes.
For the Lady Bombers, Natalia Wilson finished eighth in the 400 (1:07.02) and Lyric Flynn placed ninth (1:07.74). Midwest City’s 1,600 and 3,200 relays both finished sixth.
Del City’s Takaira Spicer finished third in the 100 (12.91) and 200 (26.21), while teammate Deyonia Simmons placed fourth in both events. Amoriea Sezer added a seventh-place finish in the 100 hurdles (21.25).
The Lady Eagles were runners-up in the 800 relay (1:49.38) and placed fourth in the 400 relay (51.81). Del City’s boys team finished third in the 400 relay and fourth in the 800 relay.
Midwest City competed March 12 at the Clancy Classic at Bishop McGuinness High School.
McGuire-Theus won the 110 hurdles (15.23) and placed third in the 100 (11.86).
Dominique Cryer placed fifth in the 200 (24.19), while Dodoo finished seventh in the 400 and Dayveon Cochren was eighth in the 100.
Midwest City’s 800 relay team of Darjuan Davis, Cryer, Dodoo and Crawford won with a time of 1:32.65.
Flynn led the Lady Bombers at the meet with a 10th-place finish in the 200 (29.62).
