Mid-Del Public Schools Foundation launches “Do It All” fundraiser
The Mid-Del Public Schools Foundation is partnering with Mid-Del School District to raise money supporting student participation in athletics, fine arts and academics.
Executive Director Lindse Barks said the idea began more than two years ago after seeing other districts successfully encourage students to participate in multiple activities.
“We want students to know they don’t have to pick just one path,” Barks said. “They can be involved in athletics, fine arts and academics and that’s where they thrive.”
The campaign aims to remove barriers for students who want to pursue more than one interest. Across the district, students already balance activities, including athletics, band, orchestra, choir and esports.
An anonymous donor will match contributions up to $5,000. Organizers are encouraging $20 donations and hope to reach 500 donors.
“We wanted to make a smaller ask and reach people who may not have given before,” Barks said. “Our community is generous, but many people are supporting multiple causes. This is about bringing in new donors rather than tapping out the same ones.”
As of the latest update, the campaign had raised about $1,400 from 34 donors.
Funds raised will support student activities for the next school year. After the fundraiser is completed, the foundation will work with the district to determine the best use of the funds.
The district has been sharing videos featuring students involved in multiple activities, along with coaches and teachers, as part of the campaign’s outreach. The campaign will continue through the end of the week, but the foundation will continue to accept donations afterward.
Donations can be made by texting “DOITALL” to 50155.
