Lady Jackets fall in second round

Choctaw High School soccer celebrated a return to the state playoffs to cap the 2024 spring season.

Choctaw’s Lady Yellowjackets claimed a 3-1 win over El Reno in the first round of the OSSAA Class 5A State Playoffs.

However, three days later the Lady Jacket soccer season would come to an end on the wrong side of a 5-0 state quarterfinal decision with Pryor.

Pryor improved to 13-3 on the year and advanced to face Coweta (13-2) in the state semifinal last week.

Pryor beat Coweta 2-1 in the semifinal, but fell to Holland Hall in the May 10 state title game, 4-2.

Pryor finished the year runner-up with a 14-4 record, while Holland Hall took the title with a 17-2 record.

El Reno finished the year 6-5 overall.

Choctaw’s girls, coached by Shawn Riley, finished the season 10-5 overall and went 6-1 in district play.

The Lady Jackets secured wins over Elgin, Harrah, Ponca City, Guthrie, Santa Fe South, Durant, McAlester, MacArthur, Noble and El Reno.

Jackets wrap up season

Choctaw’s boys finished soccer season 5-7 overall and 2-4 in district play.

The Jackets added district wins over Duncan and Noble to cap the season.

Choctaw won a thriller over Guthrie in OT, 3-2.

Other wins came over neighboring rivals Harrah and Carl Albert.

This year’s Choctaw High School boys’ squad was coached by Eric Jenkins, Teddy Fort and Mario Godinez.
